New Motorola DEVOUR heading to Verizon in Q1

Today, Motorola has unveiled their latest Android phone for the U.S. market, the Motorola DEVOUR. With an aggressive name like DEVOUR, you’d expect a new powerful handset to rival the Motorola DROID. Unfortunately, the Motorola DEVOUR’s bite does not match its bark.

The Motorola DEVOUR runs on Android 1.6 with Moto BLUR, features a 3.1 inch HVGA, 320 x 480 display, four row slide out QWERTY keyboard, and a 1400 mAh battery. You would think the DEVOUR would be a bit smaller than the DROID since the screen is a half inch smaller, but the DEVOUR measures in at 61 x 115.5 x 15.42mm compared to the DROID’s 60 x 115.8 x 13.7mm. The DEVOUR’s digital camera only features a 3MP image sensor with a fixed focus lense with digital zoom. Motorola failed to mention the speed of the processor and internal memory. The only new feature the Motorola DEVOUR is introducing is the addition of touch pad on the bottom left corner of the handset. The placement of the touch pad makes it usable when the keyboard is open, but does restrict usability to the right hand when the device is closed.

The Motorola DEVOUR will be available from Verizon Wireless in Q1 of 2010. We’re expecting the handset to take on the name: Verizon DROID DEVOUR. Based on the lackluster specs of the Motorola DEVOUR, Motorola should be pricing the handset below the $100 mark. Personally, the most I’d be willing to pay for this NEW handset is $50.
