Notion Ink’s Adam – The real ‘Pad’ you’re looking for.

Depending on who you are, it’s easy to say the introduction of Apple’s iPad was pretty disappointing. With a sexy design, and some great features thrown in, the tech junkies of the world cried. Is this really everything Mr. Jobs thought would be needed to kill the netbook industry?  That an underpowered, feature lacking slab could kill the netbook market? Sure, it killed the Kindle, but there will always be a market for it, plus the E-Ink screen is much easier on the eyes. Eh, think what you want, but its actually hard to find a netbook that runs lower that 1.3 ghz, and has a webcam. Not to mention USB, and HDMI ports, as well as a keyboard that’s not sold serparately.  I may not be much of an Apple fan, but this product actually got me excited, and I was let down. The iPad just isn’t for me. Thank god for the slew of Android based tablets in the pipeline this year.

Enter Notion Ink’s Android based tablet, Adam. Whether the company is trying to challenge the netbook market, or just Apple, I’d say they are off to the right start. With a 10.1″  display, slightly besting the iPad’s, Notion Ink’s tablet doesn’t stop there. It is feature packed, and it’s what I was expecting to come from Apple, but lucky me it didn’t, and it runs Android to boot!  I must say that I favor the look of the Adam much more than the iPad. Notion Ink’s play on the tablet looks very solid, and has a straight-out-of-the-Jetsons look that I love.

The Notion Ink tablet features an NVIDIA Tegra chip, 1080 HD video playback, 3mp camera, GPS, accelerometer, proximity sensors, expandable memory, and more. Oh, and it will support flash. Enough said. So even if it doesn’t have 140,000 applications (that probably wont be rendered correctly until an update comes alont to support different resolutions), at least i’ll have Hulu, and thousands of flash games and applications avaiable to me. Please note that this is just one of the many tablets that will be coming out this year to rival Apple’s iPad, may the war continue!
