Stolen DROID finds its way home

It’s hard to escape crime sometimes.  Yes, you can run and hide.  But the gadgets you leave behind are always helpless and have no way to defend themselves.  Well, that’s the case for most gadgets, but Android powered phones are fighting back.  Two thieves in the Portland area thought they were in the clear after looking someone’s home and making away with a Motorola DROID and other gadgets.  To celebrate their little escapade, the thieves took some pictures with their new DROID sidekick, not once thinking that the little robot (isn’t that what Motorola is calling the DROID?) would want to return to its master.  When the bad guys were asleep, the DROID fired up the Lookout app and backed up all the new pictures that were taken with its camera to an online server.

Needless to say, the rightful owner of the DROID was able to use the pictures of the criminals and had the police track them down.  You don’t really have to be smart to be a criminal, but I wouldn’t try your luck by snatching someone else Android phone.
