Android 1.6 gets a taste of Google Maps Navigation

For weeks now, there’s been a bit of resentment towards the new Android powered Motorola DROID.  It’s runnign the newest version of Android and it has Google fancy new Google Maps Navigation feature which features turn-by-turn navigation.  Today Google has launched a new Google Maps App on the Android market for all Android 1.6 handsets.  Yes, the all is available to all Android 1.6 users, but the Navigation feature is only available in the United States.  Anyone who downlaods the app in another region will be treated only to the new layers feature which overlays Wikipedia and About information over the maps.  So if you own a T-Mobile G1 or myTouch 3G, be sure to get your hands on the latest version of the maps app and start enjoying the creepy robotic voice.
