DockRunner loads up Multimedia Screen without Motorola Dock
One of the new features in Android 2.0 is the ability to load up dock screen. The Motorola DROID has two different docks screens for when you place it into Motorola’s Car Mount and their Multimedia Station. When placed into the Multimedia Station, two magnets in the back of the DROID trigger the device to load up the Multimedia Dock screen which shows the time, weather, and gives you access to your music pictures, alarm and brightness settings. Until a few days ago, Motorola’s proprietary dock was the only way you could access this screen. The good thing is that Android is an open system and to use a line from one of iPhone’s commercials, now “there’s an app for that.” DockRunner is an application on the Android Market which allows you to toggle between the Multimedia Dock screen and the standard Android home screen on your new DROID. Once the app is installed, simply open the app and the screen will magically switch over to the Multimedia Dock screen. It works just as it would if you had the official Motorola Dock, except that you save yourself $30. Oh, and if you’re thinking that you can download the app and install it on your G1, myTouch, or any other Android phone, think again. Yeah, you might be able to download DockRunner, but unless your phone is running Android 2.0 (the Motorola DROID is the ONLY Android 2.0 right now), DockRunner will not work.

Great find Nick. Just downloaded it and it works great.
Thanks,
Sam
I’ve installed this app in my Milestone,
Looks excellent, but only problem is my home screen is seen only in Landscape mode not changing to portrait,Another problem is whenever I press home button, only ‘Dock’ screen is coming!
Is there any way to change the settings? or is it only for ‘Droid’?
