T-Mobile to release Samsung Behold II on November 18th

If you’ve been holding your breath, hoping that T-Mobile would come out with a new Android phone before the end of the year, we have some great news for you. In a joint press event in New York, T-Mobile and Samsung have announced that the new Samsung Behold II will be available on November 18th.  There’s a little confusion about the price.  Multiple blogs are reporting both a $199.99 and $229.99 price point with a new two year contract.  My money is on the $199.99 price tag based on the leaked documents TmoNews released a few days back.

The Samsung Behold II will ship with Android 1.5 instead of the latest Android 2.0 firmware that is on the new Motorola DROID.  It also features a 3.2-inch AMOLED, 5MP autofocus camera with flash, 3.5, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI and a 3D Media cube.  The Behold II looks like an intriguing Android phone, but I’m not sure why the price point is the same as the Motorola DROID which has a full QWERTY keyboard and the latest version of the Android OS.  One thing’s certain, Samsung is fully committed to the Android platform and should launch at least a half dozen new Android phones in 2010.
