SONY Ericsson unveils the Android powered Xperia X10

x10-1
Today, SONY Ericsson finally unveiled their first Android powered handset, the Xperia X10.  The new Xperia X10 features a large 4-inch capacitive touch screen, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1GB of built-in memory (with MicroSD expansion slot), and a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.   As you can tell by the images, the Xperia X10 does not sport your standard Android build.  The phone is running a custom UI named Rachel on top of Android 1.6 with two additional applications: Timescape and Mediascape.  These two applications are actually the videos we’ve seen before that were leaked on to YouTube.  Timescape presents all your communications in a timely and organized fashion, all aggregated into one place.  Simply click on a friend and then you can see what they have been up to on all their social media accounts.  Mediascape gives you quick access to your music, videos, and photos all in one spot.

If you were hoping to get your hands on the SONY Ericsson Xperia X10 before the end of the year, I’m sure you’ll be disappointed to hear that the phone will not be launched until Q1 of 2010.  I know it’s not much, but we have a few more images and videos of the Xperia X10 after the break.
